Data from Central Bureau Statistics of Indonesia recorded that at 2011, 90 million children are currently 0-19 years old. So, at 2045 they are 34-53 years old. The productive age population of Indonesia reaches its peak. Indonesia will be referred to as “Indonesia Emas 2045”. The children will become our leader.

In fact, nowadays Indonesian children’s condition is very worrying. Semai 2045 movement says that they are BLAST. BLAST means Bored, Lonely, Affraid, Angry, and Tired. Yayasan Kita Buah Hati (YKBH) at 2014 recorded that, 93 of 100 student in elementary school have accessed pornography, 135 Indonesian children became victims of violence each month, sexual abuse occured in 19 provinces, Incest case occured in 23 provinces.

Gold Generation, Indonesia Emas 2045 that would serve proper leader for our country. How it could be? The children are BLAST, dear.

BLAST, I felt it too when I was in elementary school age. I was such a smart student. I was the first rank in the first grade until six grade, constantly. I selected to be classmate leader in my elementary and madrasah. I asked to represent the school in mathematic, science, and social competitions. I was such a good santri in my madrasah, too. Sadly, my peers in madrasah (my village) bullied me physical and mental. They hit me, attack my spine with her leg when I rejected to cheating in the exam, they hide my cycle, and others. They also tease me that “I am smart because of DUKUN”.

Then, I tend to enjoyed myself. I created my own activities such as: made a craft, wrote, watched the sky, prayed, and sometimes cried. That’s my actions for got my own happiness at that time.

I won’t children lonely facing this cruel and challanging conditions. They really need soulmate like I absolutely needed partner at that time (also, now). Growing happiness habits to the children is really urgent movement. We need to accompany the children take actions to enjoy “what the way they are”, have fun activities, how to loving and be loved, how to caring and sharing, collaboration, and others. Then, the children could be BEST. BEST means Behave, Emphatic, Smart, and Tough.

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from our own actions” that’s Dalai Lama said. Ladies and gantleman, Let’s action, action, and action! Change BLAST to be BEST, right now! Because “the children” that I told to you are us and our next generation.

With love,
Dwi Rahmah Hidayati

Children are born into history. They also want to have a place in the history. They addressed the questions about everything in this world to us as their parents or teachers. So, we are in the best position to help prepare our children to achieve the lifelong task of finding their place in history by helping them learn what shaped the world into which they were born.

Teaching History is one of excellent way to accompany the children’s curiosity and critical thinking skills about this world. World history and local history are the materials learning for schoolchildren. Some people believe that learn about local history is more important than world history. In my opinion, world history is important as local history. Eventhough, there are pros and cons about that.
Sahabat Senyum - Telling story and history
Local history in our country it means the materials learning about history of Indonesia. Not only about the palaces in Indonesia, the kings in its periode, the wars and the heroes when our country were colonized by Netherlands and Japan, but also about the children’s family history. Local history learning can strengthening the roots of children’s understanding of their identity from nearest surroundings. That is will improve the children’s love and their contributions to save the local heritage in Indonesia.

In spite of that, world history really needed to be learned by schoolchildren because its equip them with the knowledge and understanding of the past for coping and planning for the future world. Above all, today is interconnecting era that the children will facing international collaborations in their life. The materials of world history such as the children’s countries position in the world, new countries and introduce them to different places and times. Learn about that use a globe or map and encyclopedia. Also, introduce the children about the famous people with each movements and the riches culture-diversity in many countries in the world. The parents and teachers need to emphasize the value about “Unity in Diversity” when learned about world history. Stone (1986) said that children are more open to the diversity in the early elementary years than in later years. They are also more likely to express interest in studying and visiting foreign countries in early years. That is why the world history need to be learned by the schoolchildren.

I strongly conclude that the world history is important as much as local history. In the primary ages of children, they learn both of them for foundation their thinking and actuating ways for the universally. So, the children would “Think globally, Act locally”.

Passion for Education - Learn with pleasure“Children see, children do”. That is popular statement from Bandura’s Social Cognitive Learning Theory. It means that what the children do are depend on what they see. If they see the good examples, they will do the good behavior. Unless, the examples are bad, so do the children.

Frequently, the children easly follow the bad behavior from their schools friends. The parents not become their idols. Many cases showed that the bad students behavior came from disharmony families. The conditions such us divorced, bussy parents, or unrespectfull parents to their children. That types of parents usually have lack attention and support to the schools teacher and programs.

The obvious solution is the strong engagement between the parents and all school members. The parents should active support their children and keep the good relation with the school members. The schools members must work closely with the parents, for example with facilitate the parents with parenting workshop program every month.

In conclusion, one of the causes of bad children behavior is lack of children figure from the parents then makes the children follow the bad behavior from the bad friends. The parents need pay more attention to the children and collaborate with the school members.

Passion for Education - See Rainbow with our own walk
Source: My Research of Compulsory Education (2014)

Education is the essential of the human rights in every countries whatever its developing or developed countries. The unfinnish education problem in Indonesia until now is unequity and unequality of education, particularly in the remote areas. Many children can not access their basic skills education because of the insufficient schools. There is one of the example places that doesn’t has the junior high school, Ranu Pane village, distric of Lumajang. Many children decide to work in early ages as the farmers to help their parents. It is good that children learn to work and help their parents. But, they ought to keep learning too, even they could not access formal education. Learn about their local wisdom, join with youth local oragnization, and be a part of local movement is a suitable choice.

Furthermore, the government with the Non Government Organizations (NGOs) should take some strategies to solve the problems, such as develop alternative education (community based education), invest in schools and technology, supply the funds to build schools and pay for the teachers. The teachers welfare must become one of budgets priority plan of the government. If the teachers needs are guaranteed, they will focus on their main jobs and involve totally. Then, their educational service performances will be better for the children. So, there are the unequity and unequality problems in the developing countries that need the collaborative programs from the government, NGOs, local communities, and stakeholders.

We can not deny the rapid technology innovations in this recent years. Education is one of the most adopt fields that take the benefits from the developed technology. The teachers can be an example of positive user of technology. They added significance the function of computers technology to create much more interest teaching aids that the students become more pay attentions to their explanations. The teachers could held the distance learning, too. They still possible to connect and accompany their students to study in everywhere and everytime through the internet connected computers. On the other hand, the teachers would have too much on computers that not good for their health. Their eyes could be poignant or the problem with their spines. Another drawback is the technology could not substitute for a real teacher. Exactly, the teacher is such an inspirator that do her or his job involve the heart. Its never replaced by the technology as the machine. I conclude that technology could greatly facilitate the teachers in teaching and learning. The demerits are the health problems and the restrictiveness of technology to replace the role of teachers. So, the stakeholders of education should use the technology critically in the positive ways.

Oke, bunda dan cabun… see on the next post yaah.

  2. Mengajak anak menyanyi tentang berbagai jenis emosi
  3. Melakukan challenges merubah ekspresi secara cepat
  4. Membuat video berbagai ekspresi bersama anak. Berikut salah satu karya penyaluran ekspresi oleh anak.

Yuk, berani berekspresi 🙂
